Val Marie is a village of 137 people located in Canada's Saskatchewan province a few kilometers from the Canada-USA border.
We are situated in a dry, desert type climate. We seem to have only two seasons--winter and summer. Our summers are hot and dry; many days we are the hottest location in Canada.
The economy of the area is based on farming, ranching, and natural gas. Tourism is becoming a major economic force within the Village due to the establishment of Grasslands National Park, in the surrounding Rural Municipalities.
Although we are a small village, volunteerism from those who live in the village and in the surrounding Rural Municipality is strong.

Because of the hard work of many of our volunteer or non-profit boards, Val Marie offers many of the services/luxuries that any larger center might have including: ambulance service, fitness Center, K-12 School, skating and curling rink, giftstore & museum, licensed daycare, movie theatre, a housing authority, and many more services offered by private business owners. |
Our "Property" button on the navigation bar will inform you of all the properites for sale within the Village. Val Marie is a great place to live and raise a family, as many have discovered. The real estate market here is probably the best kept secret in Canada! There are many people new to the area who live here, as well as third and fourth generation families.

We honour our ranching heritage with horse hitching rails located throughout the village, and have themed main street with a branded rustic rail fence. You can do your business and visit the local watering hole on horseback.
Val Marie is truly the Gateway to Grasslands National Park, Where Heaven meets Earth - 450 square kilometers of open, native grassland country to explore. You may even see bison on the prairie as it was years ago.
